Coming Soon to Integrate NI

Integrate NI aims to bring you everything you need to know about a Multi-Cultural Northern Ireland, while nurturing diversity and cultural expression. We are working hard to get our Website ready to launch: to make it easier to create, learn, share, consume and connect to what’s happening right now.

We want to take a moment to wish everyone a happy 2015 and to share our vision with you and offer some insight into what Integrate NI will be bringing in the coming months.

In 2014, we set out on a project to make Northern Ireland’s first Multi-Cultural and Intercultural Newsprint Magazine. We believe that newsprint remains the best place to read long-form journalism, and it is a platform which many still believe, best carries serious journalism. We also believe that by providing a free newspaper, distributed in prominent places, we can reach a wider audience of people who would not necessarily look for this information. With plans to go to print in the near future we will soon be crowd-funding to help produce a print copy of the publication, allowing us to approach the publication with integrity. That being said, we also understand the need for a digital platform, therefore we will be soon be launching our website, which will allow you to interact with our articles, to share, tweet, comment and easily get in touch.

We want to hear more from YOU. We are extremely interested in your ideas for articles. We are also interested in ideas from volunteer writers based in Northern Ireland, which they would like to develop. We are interested in articles which aim to challenge prejudices and tackle hard issues in a safe way to promote positive relations and community cohesion, while nurturing the diversity of cultural expressions. Articles which show the connections different cultures have with Northern Ireland and their impact on Northern Irish society excite us. We want to inspire others with articles about the positive work being done in community cohesion and positive relations. We want to bust myths and offer educative articles. We want to share personal experiences, opinion pieces, interviews, recipes, arts, music, literature and screen reviews. We want to hear stories from Northern Ireland, and ensure that we reflect the increasingly rich ethnic and cultural diversity of our society. Therefore we need YOUR help, whether it be providing ideas or volunteering articles to allow us all to celebrate the Cultural Diversity found in Northern Ireland. We encourage you to share your heritage with others.

Alongside providing food for thought, we think you will have fun experiencing the diversity of your society through Integrate NI.

Right now, you can follow us on twitter, @IntegrateNI1 and facebook, to keep up to date with our website advances. But we need your ideas to ensure the content that is interesting to you, regarding a Multi and Intercultural-Northern Ireland, is what we provide – you can submit an article or idea via email to

Ultimately, we believe that diversity makes us all richer, that it is the basis of innovation, and that we can all take something positive away from cultural diversity.

Over the coming months, we are picking up the pace and look forward to your involvement. As ever, we will be listening to your feedback along the way to make sure we build a service you love.

Maybe have testimonials from people that used to have racist tendencies and views that have changed to be accepting of other cultures and races.

I am a writer and mother who fully believes in teaching the positives of diversity to her two young sons. My eldest, age 7 attends an integrated school and youngest attends nursery with children from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I could provide content from the child, neighbourhood and parenting perspective, exploring the way children can relate to everyone and how positive parenting can encourage future generations to embrace and celebrate diversity in society.
